2018 DCNA Annual Meeting

The 2018 Annual Meeting of the DCNA will take place on Monday, December 10 from 7-9 pm at the Deering Center Community Church at 4 Brentwood Street.

Please bring a canned food item for the Wayside kitchen pantry that supports the community dinners.

City Proposes to Move Homeless Shelter to Barron Center

As reported in the Portland Press Herald, Portland officials are recommending that a 200-bed homeless service center be built on a parcel of city-owned land at the Barron Center campus on Brighton Avenue.

There is a Health and Human Services and Public Safety committee meeting on Tuesday June 26  from 5:30 – 8 in Room 24 (basement)  Room Change: this meeting has been moved to Council Chambers on the Second Floor – of City Hall for a preliminary discussion. This meeting is open to the public.

A public hearing on the recommendation has been scheduled for July 10 from 5:30 – 8 in room 209, City Hall.

At the City Council meeting of June 15, the Council voted to postpone the decision on a zone change for the proposed McAuley Place Development at 605 Stevens Ave (aka The Motherhouse Property). The council will revisit the issue and take up the vote at its next meeting on July 6th.

In advance of that vote, the DCNA would like to extend an invitation to all neighbors and friends to learn more about the proposed development and to review the public process thus far. All are welcome.
