Community Meeting on School Bond Issue: Wednesday December 21

The Longfellow and Lyseth Parent Teacher Organizations are jointly hosting a community meeting with our District 5 City Councilor David Brenerman and School Board Member Marnie Morrione regarding the Elementary School bond proposal.  We welcome all District 5 residents (not just parents of elementary school children) to come and hear from Councilor Brenerman and Board Member Morrione and provide them with your thoughts and views.  Both Councilor Brenerman and Board Member Morrione are very interested in providing an update to residents and hearing from constituents directly.

WHEN:                 Wednesday, December 21 at 6:30pm

WHERE:               Casco Bay High School, Room 200

WHY:                    Learn the latest and respectfully speak your mind

As many of you may be aware, the School Facilities Ad Hoc Committee is meeting on Thursday December 22 at 5pm in City Council Chambers.  The School Facilities Ad Hoc Committee was formed by the City Council to further review and provide a recommendation on the proposed school bond.  The Ad Hoc Committee is comprised of 4 School Board Members, 3 City Councilors and the Mayor.  Once the Ad Hoc committee makes its recommendation, it will be sent back to the Board of Public Education for their approval, reviewed by the Council’s Finance Committee and then ultimately voted on by the full Council.  Bond proposals need to be approved by 7 members of the City Council in order to go on the ballot for voters to decide upon.  Both Councilor Brenerman and Board Member Morrione serve on the Ad Hoc committee.

We hope to see many of you then!
