The Deering Center Neighborhood Association would like to express our heartfelt condolences at the death of Eric Jorgensen, the social studies teacher at Catherine McAuley High School . Eric worked closely with archaeologist Norm Buttrick and his team on the recent archaeological dig in Baxter Woods, a DCNA sponsored project which was funded by the Maine Humanities Council. Eric was a natural teacher, enthusiastic about learning and teaching local history and it was evident that he enjoyed his work. His students will undoubtedly miss him, and we felt privileged to have known and worked with him.

There will be a memorial service in his honor on Wednesday, July 15 at 6:00 pm at McAuley High School.  All are welcome to come and pay respect. The DCNA will contribute to a McAuley Scholarship fund in honor of Eric. Those who wish to contribute may contact us.
