At long last the garden plots are assigned, and filling in with a wonderful assortment of flowers, vegetables and fruits. The common share areas are being planted, and soon we’ll have some blueberries and pumpkins. More than sixty families and neighbors are represented in this community effort, which would not have possible without the generosity and professional services of Roccy Risbara and Risbara Construction.
The Risbara family has been instrumental in returning this piece of neglected city-owned land back into a farm, as it was in the early days of the last century under Clement and Concetta Risbara, who came over from Italy and for whom we dedicate this pioneer season of gardening.
Peter and Claudia Risbara are still in the farming business and own and operate Risbara Greenhouses off of Newton Street in the Riverton neighborhood of Portland. They have been very supportive of our garden, and extend a 10% discount to any Brentwood Farms gardener. Thank you Peter and Claudia!
