Clean-up, clearing and Soil testing with LMS

DCCG is thrilled to accept the help of 8th grade Lincoln Middle School science students for three days of cleaning, clearing brush, and soil testing on the site beginning on May 18th.  Neighbor and environmental scientist Allison Glessner will lead the soil testing by collecting 12 composite samples from the site where the garden and orchards are planned.  The samples will be sent to the Maine Soil Testing Lab for results.
We are very appreciative of everyone’s willingness to help and especially the enthusiasm of Antona Briley and Franklin Sames, the LMS 8th grade science teachers. Thank you!

Day of Caring May 21, 2009

Portland Trails will be leading a Day of Caring work effort on Thursday, May 21 at the Brentwood Farms Garden Site.  The plan is to continue trail work on the trails that we cut last spring, around and behind the garden, which connect with the blazed trails that run behind Evergreen Cemetery.

Save the Date: Memorial Day Weekend

If you are in town for the holiday weekend, please plan to share some of the time with us as we prepare the ground to plant our very first crop: a pumpkin patch!  We will need all the help we can get at this kid-friendly event and work day. More details to follow, as we move ahead with our busy spring schedule.
